Many families question whether or not their child has characteristics of an attention

deficit disorder. Dr. Johnstone understands that concern,

especially when this might interfere with a child’s academic or social success.

Therefore, if this is a particular question from a parent or school staff member,

an early developmental history will be acquired. In addition, rating scales
are completed by the parents and school personnel regarding the child’s

social, emotional, and behavioral characteristics.

Older children will also be asked to complete a self-report.

More than likely, if this is a concern, attending behaviors will have some effect

on a child’s academic achievement, and additional assessments will be considered.

After the evaluation, recommendations for parents and school staff will be provided.
